Love is a d4… or a tetrahedron. Are diamonds overrated?

God reveals the nature of love, having had written so much about it in His word. Therefore, we know there are four kinds of, or aspects about, love. Agápe, philéo, storgé, and eros.

Agápe is the base protocol, the carrier frequency of universe. Please refer to the links. If you do not have time, i quote from Insight: “A·gaʹpe, therefore, carries the meaning of love guided, or governed, by principle. It may or may not include affection and fondness.” And: “is wider, embracing espec. the judgment and the deliberate assent of the will as a matter of principle, duty and propriety.

Philéo is the friendship love or affection. It can be felt for things as well, but that doesn’t interest us now.

Storgé is the natural affection, typical of blood ties.

Eros, though not mentioned in Greek Scriptures, is evidently romantic and sexual love.

How are all of these facets connnected together? Surely, they aren’t mutually exclusive. But I want to talk about the love a christian is supposed to feel and show for his or her spouse.

No need to say, the first thing, or better, the level-0 step is: being attuned with agápe. We can’t actually love anyone in any way if we don’t reflect this divine quality at our best. Doing so involves living, thinking and feeling in harmony with God’s personality. This has to be the vertex of our tetrahedron: the feeling in your spirit. And the others three follows, as subordinates.

We could take agápe for granted, yet it is the most difficult part. Anyway, marital love would be incomplete without the other aspects. Eros is the most immediate part, and it is indeed fundamental. But don’t underestimate the other two.

Philéo: it turns out that the “friendzone” is a necessary but not sufficient condition to achieve lasting love (unless you are bound to be indefinitely confined into it). In other words: your spouse has to be your best friend. I daresay: you can’t expect he or she will become such at some point. You have to build your true friendship before marriage. This gives me the feeling of special affinity, similar minds. The feeling in your head.

Storgé: affection is needed too. Careful: do not mistake attraction for affection. Eros tends to be invasive and to deceive our heart. This gives me the feeling of emotional affinity, similar hearts. The feeling in your stomach.

The more complete your tetrahedron, the more strong your love. Cute similarity:

The diamond structure is a tetrahedron as well. We can relate love to diamonds, of course. It appears now they share the same geometric structure. If love is properly built, they share toughness too, and are forever.

So diamonds aren’t overrated after all.

 Song of Solomon 8:6:

Place me as a seal upon your heart, As a seal upon your arm, For love is as strong as death is, And exclusive devotion is as unyielding as the Grave. Its flames are a blazing fire, the flame of Jah.

About material things

Once, at a meeting, they compared the pursuing of any materialistic goal (not meaning hedonistic lifestyles, but any goal that is not merely spiritual) with painting the walls of the Titanic. In which sense?

The world where we happen to live in this short period of time is like that ship, in a very close future it will go dramatically to the bottom (carrying along a conspicuous number of people), with a difference: we are aware of the nature of its destiny.

Even more, in a moment like this, when it is clear by now that the Great Tribulation is about, it is obvious how any investment of time, money, energies, or whatever, is totally useless: a real waste and, moreover, a big risk.

The problem is the world and its spirit, trying every day, every moment, to influence our thoughts without having we realize it. We receive, growing up, by usual learning and individual and psychological forming processes, several belief systems. In this system of things inbued with the spirit of the world, many of these beliefs are faulty or misleading. It is normal to perceive stability and safety in institutions appearing mastodontic, immortal, solid, in our eyes. Example: work. Who can deny to feel a sense of stability, safety, while imagining to work, let's say, in a bank? It is an automatic reaction. And unfortunate, I add. Again: who can deny to consider superior instruction like something that can actually make the difference in life? Maybe we would not express it this way, but if we think it through we see how mental images we have, their emotional content, is just this.

Do we intimately know Jehovah? Do we believe in Him? I mean, do we have complete trust that what He says to us is true?

This universe, all its content, all of immense and of human… of course it is important, but when it comes to power and complexity, it is nothing special by God's point of view. It is His creation. It is completely subjected to His thoughts. We do not have a clear idea of how much inferior we are to Him by this point of view.

Isaiah 40:15-17 – Look! The nations are as a drop from a bucket; and as the film of dust on the scales they have been accounted. Look! He lifts the islands themselves as mere fine [dust]. Even Leb´a·non is not sufficient for keeping a fire burning, and its wild animals are not sufficient for a burnt offering. All the nations are as something nonexistent in front of him; as nothing and an unreality they have been accounted to him.

If this does not reflect our our way of seeing things, we have to strive in order to work on it. Do we consider material thing as an unreality? Which importance, which power may anything (governments, weapons, richness, prestige) existing in this world have, compared to God?

Of course, as a generic statement, it is obvious; who could ever object to such an observation? But we are interested in the practice.

Does our life style match this awareness? Are we making of Jehovah our refuge? “We cling to Jehovah when we heed his Word, which often runs contrary to human wisdom ”? I keep on quoting from The Watchtower: “For instance, people influenced by human wisdom may say: ‘You have only one life; make the most of it.’ ‘Pursue a good career.’ ‘Make a lot of money.’ ‘Buy this, buy that.’ ‘Travel; enjoy the world.'

Now, as touched on before, none of us would dream to live this way. But our automatic thinking, the instinctive one, is it free from the influence of these patterns? To make a career, to earn some money, to buy things, to travel, all of this is not wrong in itself. God created us to feel satisfied in our daily doings: the desire to perform a job that is satisfying and which matches our aptitudes, it is just natural. Money is necessary, as many material goods as well (without argumenting on how much necessary they actually are, do you think you can live today without mobile phones and private transportation?). To travel, then, it is so nice.

But remember where we are! And in what moment we are living! It's not the time to think about such things, especially now when this natural inclinations can distract us right before the Lord arrives, like nodding off before the dawn.

Moreover:

1 Corinthians 7:31 – “and those making use of the world as those not using it to the full; for the scene of this world is changing.”

It seems clear that the message here is not just “do not make use of the world (as the ones from the nations)”. We could flip the sentence: those who are forced to make use of the world, do it as little as possible!

The difference is huge. This comes up bearing in mind the other scriptures that make us understand we must put the Kingdom first, and “having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things.”

With this in mind, I quote once again the same article of The Watchtower: “Does your attitude toward “the world” and “the things in the world” reflect your complete trust in God? Are spiritual riches and privileges of Kingdom service more desirable and important to you than the things the world offers? Do you strive to maintain a ‘simple eye’?

So, do we consider all the things a loss, some refuses, as the scripture says? Or maybe we cosider them somehow important? Scriptures are clear: these things are not important, on the contrary, they are harmful to us. Thus we have to work in order to consider them for what they are.

And then there is another aspect:

1 Samuel12:20-22 – “Only do not turn aside from following Jehovah, and YOU must serve Jehovah with all YOUR heart. And YOU must not turn aside to follow the unrealities that are of no benefit and that do not deliver, because they are unrealities. For Jehovah will not desert his people for the sake of his great name, because Jehovah has taken it upon himself to make YOU his people.”

Now I could seem anachronistic to you, but how much highly do you think about the “word of honour”? Once it equated the sign of a contract. To a man of honour, that word is the most binding thing exists, a promise, an oath to respect, a vote. But this is just a vague reflection of what it has to mean to Jehovah, his own word, his own name. This is the most real thing it may exist in absolute meaning; not just in relation to our physical universe. Is an unreachable, impassable limit. His power could stop all we know in a time instant not even measurable…

…and He took charge of it…

…for the sake of His great name…

How can we doubt of Him, after having Him telling us a thing like this?! How can we feel anxiety about material, fleshy, things, when it is Him granting them to us?! How could we search for any kind and degree of refuge somewhere else?!

Doing it would be a serious offence towards Him! It would be just like saying that God cannot or does not want to keep His word!

Are we kidding??

Thinking about these things, now the word of Philippians 4:6,7 have gained better vigour: “Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let YOUR petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard YOUR hearts and YOUR mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.

Nexialism

Wikipedia (it):

"The term nexialism was introduced in science fiction by Alfred Elton van Vogt, a canadian writer, in a series of tales gathered together in the book The Voyage of the Space Beagle, to describe a fictional doctrine. Van Vogt's theory assumes: since each discipline reached the highest specialization levels, a new science was needed to re-establish the connections between the various competences and knowledges. Who performs this task is defined nexialist."

Moreover:
"In an attempt to explain a new learning modality, based on network paradigm, a new learning theory in the digital era emerged lately, named nexialism.

A peculiar aspect of nexialism is the use of the network with nodes and connections as the central metaphor to explain how learning process occurs. In this metaphor, a node is whatever may be connected to another node: informations, datas, images, feelings. To learn is a connections-creating process and develops a network."

This last theory of them I like, since it's analog to the structure that in man performs that function: the brain (network made of neurons and synapsis… if you want to take a deeper look on the subject: Neural networks)

Candles kill many more than nuclear power

Great article found here.

Japan’s earthquake has unleashed a massive wave of hysteria throughout Germany as media outlets hyperventilate over the danger of a meltdown at the Japanese Fukushima nuclear power plant. Sure nuclear power is deadly dangerous if not properly used, and the situation in Japan is critical. But listening to the media, you’d think nothing could be more dangerous.

Now activists are demanding we switch immediately over to the-planet saving renewable energy sources, like wind power for example.

But just how safe is wind energy? Just how “safe” are many things out there? What about public transportation?

It turns out that nuclear power is a minor killer when the big picture is examined.

Zero nuclear power plant deaths in the USA – Wind energy has killed more

The Japanese earthquake and nuclear reactor accidents is yet another example of the media’s distorted perception. It turns out that wind power has been a bigger killer than nuclear power in the USA. Here’s what treehugger reported awhile back:

"According to one viewpoint of reports offering the comparison between wind versus nuclear energy, there has not been one single injury to a nuclear plant worker in all its 104 power plants and 40 years of service in the United States… not one!

The Wind Turbine Industry on the other hand, has quite a treacherous track record as you can see by the summary below:

Summary of Wind Turbine Incidents (December 2008):

• 41 worker fatalities –  includes falling from turbine towers and transporting turbines on the highway.

• 39 Incidents of blade failure – failed blades can travel over 400 meters, killing any unfortunate bystanders.

• 110 Incidents of fire – When a wind turbine fire occurs, local fire departments can do little but watch due to the 30-story height of these turbine units. The falling debris are then carried across the distance and cause new fires.

• 60 Incidents of structural failure- As turbines become more prevalent, these breakages will become more common in public areas, thereby causing more deaths and dismemberment’s from falling debris.

• 24 incidents of “hurling ice”- Ice forms on these giant blades and is reportedly hurled at deathly speeds in all directions. Author reports that some 880 ice incidents having occurred over Germany’s 13-years of harnessing wind power.”

Another way to save the planet and to “live safely” is to ride your bicycle. Well it turns out that bike-riding is far deadlier than nuclear power. In the USA in 2008, 716 bicyclists were killed in traffic accidents. About 53,000 bicyclists have died in traffic crashes in the United States since 1932. Compare that to the deaths caused by nuclear power in the United States – or even globally.

Candles kill more than nuclear

Indeed many things are far more dangerous than nuclear power plants, at least they have caused far more deaths and mayhem. Here are some annual death statistics from the USA that cause many more deaths, taken from here and here. Why don’t we ban all of these menacing products?

Nuclear power plants – 0 deaths per year

Candles  – 126

Bicycles 1995  – 800

Agriculture  – 1,300

Motorcycles  – 2,500

Car Phones 2002   – 2,500

Alcohol – 100,000

Tobacco – 500,000

Candles kill 126 – in just a single year and in a single country! Having a reliable supply of electricity would mean less use of candles, and so lives would be saved. As far as I know, all of the above killer items are being sold without protest.  Here are some other killers:

Roller skates  – 10

Window blind cords  – 13

Drawstring hoods  – 17

Dog Bites  – 20

Skiing deaths  – 34

Yes, even the lowly blind cord has killed more than U.S. nuclear power plants have.

Green transportation is a killer too

Let’s go green and hop on public transport. But wait, they cause more deaths than nuclear power too. Admittedly these US statistics aren’t so up-to-date, but they give you an idea of the risks involved.

1999 bus deaths  – 58

1999 railroad – 805

1999  struck by trains – 530

Dangerous occupations

And let’s move to ban all the following potentially catastrophic occupations. Actually they are not potentially – they simply just are! They are destroying the planet and kill humans. Occupations in USA; deaths/100,000:

Timber cutters  – 117.8

Fishers    – 71.1

Pilots and navigators  –  69.8

Structural metal workers  – 58.2

Drivers-sales workers   – 37.9

Roofers – 37.0

Electrical power installers   – 32.5

Farm occupations  – 28.0

Construction laborers –  27.7

Truck drivers  – 25.0

We accept many of the risks these products and occupations pose because their benefits far outweigh the harm they do.

Automobiles are far more dangerous

If zero deaths in the United States from nuclear power is too much to take, then take a look at what the automobile claims every year:

Traffic deaths per year global: 1.27 million

Nuclear power has an excellent record

One thing that constantly gets ignored is the cost-benefit analysis of nuclear power. It has a far better track record than many other products or systems out there and it vastly improves our lives as a whole. Of course, there is a risk in generating power with nuclear reactions, but the benefits it offers are immense.

Sure accidents will happen. But as technology improves, these accidents will become rarer. It is indeed difficult to find a product that has given us so much for so little in terms of lives lost. Even if the worst happens in Japan, the loss of life will be relatively small.

I recall a few years ago 4 workers getting killed in a biogas plant here in northern Germany. Yet, the incident went practically unreported in the media. Imagine if these four workers had been killed in a nuclear plant.

The issue has little to do with safety, and much more so to do with politics and power.

Faith?

Now we are not going to make a tract about faith. Anyway, a couple of aspects i wanted to spot….

The cliff, the proof, the footbridge: it is excellent material to illustrate the point. Granted that it does not belong to the man who is walking to direct his step, the only one who can direct our feet in the minefield that life in these last days is, is God. Then, the more we rely on Him about our routing, the better. This seems obvious, ma then comes into play that we DO NOT see the way. As the actor in this video, it is not easy to blindly rely upon someone, especially when for OUR eyes there is no way out, but just a cliff, a ravine, waiting for us. Trust nuance arises. Do we know the person on whom we rely, do we believe to what He says? Another couple of scriptures to think about:

Isaiah 30:21 – And your own ears will hear a word behind you saying: “This is the way. Walk in it, YOU people,”

Jeremiah 20:11 – But Jehovah was with me like a terrible mighty one. That is why the very ones persecuting me will stumble and not prevail. (and this links us back to "Freedom and fear")

Doubt

Not talking about doubt process, no…

How many times have we heard the expression: “benefit of the doubt”? A lot, surely. But what does it mean..? It’s called benefit because we want to consider someone innocent until proven guilty? So far, so good. The question is another.

How many times have we heard the expression: “Stop judging that YOU may not be judged”? Even more often. And we all agree that among a pool af sinners it does not have much sense pointing finger at someone. But again:

How many times have we heard the expression: “All things are clean to clean [persons]. But to [persons] defiled and faithless nothing is clean, but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.”?

Now let’s put to a system these three equations (note that in mathematics as well they would be called ‘expressions’). What conclusion can we come to?

Firstly, for human beings judgment is something that travels along with their look. Evrything we hear, see or think, it is automatically classified as white/black/gray (simplifying). Only who has no moral values to refer to can exempt from this mental process, i.e. a baby. Remarkable is indeed we call him/her “innocent”! Why innocent? Because, it’s clear, evil is so only if it’s accomplished on purpose. Or better, crime is imputable only if you are aware of the law (while, on the contrary, state’s law does not admit ignorance). I am saying this deliberately irrespective of the fact that we are imperfect, then we tend to do what’s bad.

Then?

Then we have to fight this tendency with active mental processes. For example, as it’s so often said, it is good practice to keep for ourselves our judgements (without starting to argue about their supposed good quality) (and here we could link to rumors). After this, we have to enact a process. Inside our heads. But careful: NOT to verify “truth” (“what is truth?” from the human point of view, Pilate was certainly right), but to LISTEN THE WITNESSES, that is to strive to imagine opinions and points of view different from ours, to weigh up their reasonableness, to examine their reasons, and so on… In the end, besides if we have “liked” all this, we have to archive the session record and put our soul to rest, aware that possible judgements are a lot, and that:

A) we do not have enough elements to pass one.

B) more important: we do not have the authority to pass one.

The christian is called to keep his conduct on the base of principles, not of laws. This difference in naming, only, should let us guess that there is a difference legally-esecutively talking too. Since there are no precise rules of conduct, everyone is called to judge only himself. Once we have a clear coscience before our only Judge, our assignment ends. Then everything our neighbor or our brothers will do will be pure (that is we will bestow them a real benefit of doubt). Otherwise, if we measure with any meter, everything, i say everything our brothers will do will be wrong (or potentially wrong) in our heads. And we know this is wrong too. It is not healthy for us. It would be the curse, of doubt.

From free (“truth will set YOU free”)…

…to slave (“They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men”).

Am I asocial…?

Am I an asocial guy?

Don't think so.

You guys saying this are the asocial ones.

What are we talking about? Exchanges, communication. Precisely: nowadays. Now I am not going trough a detailed review about "social networks", it would be so long-winded, and even useless.

I did not joined any "social network". And I am proud of it. Sure, it's far more comfortable to committ to an external structure (virtual/cybernetical as well as physical/istitutional) the management (both quantitatively and qualitatively) of one's human relationships. But this does not mean that it's right, correct, healthy and convenient. Here's the reversal trick: those who are like me are often referred to as asocial, different, alienated, while the opposite is true. It's all you guys depending on these media to be the alienated one. The asocials. The social being (as man supposes he is) needs interpersonal relationships, public relationships as friendship, acquaintance, love, etc. But these have to be authentic! Both in their nature, and in their contents!

The real social network is out there, is made of every person you meet. Your friends are the servers, the hubs, the nearest sites. Data is exchanged through words, through actions, through emotions. Others will really know you only if you let them really know you this way! Not a pun.

Massive use of these media is a sickness, a deviance. It's not healthy. One thing is using a media to be allowed to get a new or otherwise unattainable level of communication, another is using it to partially – or even mainly – substitute more effective media!

Get out of your shells, let your fears go, and start living for real, exchanging with others what you have! Remember that "there is more happines in giving than there is in receiving". You do not know what you are missing!

Without generalizing: they are trying to frame you.

Role playing as misconduct or psycopathology

Everybody plays a role, it's known.

When we go to work, or if we we have a duty involving authority or responsibility at a certain degree… then, virtually always.

Now we can't define every degree of pretense the individual adopts in various circumstances, nor this is the moment (I really do not have time) to mark which are the roles that are good to play, or to which we are called to stick to for our own good and happiness, nor to reason about how role-playing in a certain extent is even healthy for the individual.

Anyway, we have to spend several words about a danger I have seen becoming clear and present in some cases.

We assume that the roles we play, generally, are just "interfaces" or "modulations" or a series of rules in which express our personality, our functions and activities. On the other hand, it often happens that the individual inverts perception of what he/she internally is with what he/she is on the surface; that is he exchanges or confuses the substance with the interface, his real persona with the role he's playing, the face with the mask (to use a term already used, see post about communication, we could also say he's confounding the internal meaning of himself with the words used to express it). And this, even if it could seem an obvious and thin distinction since Pirandello, it makes a terrible difference.

At this point we could draw in the concept of honor. Don't you dare to mistake it with omerta. Strictly, a man of honor (or a woman, of course) is firstly faithful to himself. There's no honor without coherence. There's no loyalty. (One day we will talk thoroughly about this too).

Now: the individual who does not have clear in mind the difference between "objective self" and the roles he plays, either he is in a state of mental and psychological confusion, or he's one of the cases that I put under "stealth psycopaths", that are folks mentally ill – literally – but appearing perfectly normal in daily life and even to acquaintances and close relatives. And I assure you they are far, far more than you think.

How can this individual stick to moral values? His values change according to circumstances. How can he have certainties? He will only have illusions, built above cloudy concepts, because he can not admit the existance of one absolute truth, a concept needed for the existance of all relative truths you want (yes, I have to update the post about relativism tautology: "all is relative" = self-confessed nonsense).

How can a person like that behave according to his conscience? It's clear that a conscience can't work properly in a mind like that. It does not have a real point of reference, or landmark. Or, worse, he think he has it, but not barely in himself, nor from God, though in the kind of persona he's playing at that very moment, and this is an aberration! It makes come to my mind the pseudo-sentient dolls à-la Philip Dick (or Ghost in the Shell), you are warned…

Let's pay attention to these cases; they're loose cannons in social/affective relationships.

About Communication pt.2

Our real sense organ is language.

Even better; perception of the reality is language. The carriers, media, can be sense organs, Word, Music, everything, but it is what they have in common that makes the difference. The language. The ability to assign a meaning, a content. Something that carries this meaning, like words.

Men are made of words.

The outer world, the reality, is perceived as we do according to the meaning the individual assigns them. The meaning is inside the individual, subjective, and it may fit more or less precisely the intrinsic meaning of the reality, that is objective (and unknowable downright).

Consequently, the one who wants to be more fully aware about himself and what surrounds him, he has to use better and better words. (Link to the previous post about communication.) He has to own an improving resolution, to discern smaller and smaller details and differences.

He (or she, it's clear) has to start talking to himself.

It's interesting to think about how senses operate. For istance, the eye. It's known that people who were born blind and start to see at some point (I'm not alluding just to miracles, but to certain physiological conditions), they are not actually seeing anything: their brain receives the images but just can't interprets them. It does not connect the external world (the geometrical space conformation in front of it) to the inner one (presence of himself in that space, distances, objects consistence, etc…). It will learn this ability with time. Again is the information contained in the images which let us see, not light emission by itself. Here's the language: it does not exist information without encoding. It would not exist any encoding without information, after all.

This would start a diversion from the theme, about computers world. The code made by men using these machines, the language animating them, them as human "extensions". Maybe we will talk about it next time.

Coming back: for every communication system, and they are uncountable, it's always a matter of coding.

Now the first observation: the system is not necessarily finite. That is projecting men towards eternity for which they are designed, coding and communication system available are first of all A LOT but, more important, they are open to such a huge amount of possible evolutions, extensions, changes, interrelations, that my head hurts just thinking about it. Then what men are, what they perceive, is potentially eternal indeed. Not to mention the usal thing: nothing is ever exactly identical to itself, not even twice in a row.

Second observation, more interesting at the moment: the system is currently imperfect. Our imperfection, as said before, corrupts expressive systems but above all decoding systems, frustrating largely the great existance function of the Ego, the language. Reminding the other post, again, we have to try to refine our communication abilities, both expression and decoding ones. Misunderstandings, or data transfer errors, are noxious and have on thoughts and relationship the same effects eletromagnetical noise has on audio/video data transfer, for example. Consequences then span in a range of possibilities starting from simple "unpleasant" up to "painful". To use a technical term, we have to costantly work to obtain the better Signal to Noise ratio ever.

Dialogue. Dialogue, dialogue! First af all with ourselves; it is not possible to interact effectively and pleasantly with others if we do not know our own "functioning parameters" first, our coding/decoding patterns, our features, abilities and indiosyncrasy, what do we need a what we can give. Then it's necessary to proceed dialoguing with neighbor; not just talking, but trying to excercise the function for which language exists between sentient beings, that is the exchange. We do not have the gift of word to exercise a funtion similar to that of a tv channel stuck on advertisings 24h a day.

We have the wonderful ability to internalize part of the universe, part of the sensible reality (and part of it that is not, thanks to our spiritual component). After this, we can share our vision of what we know with others; replicate this procedure with a number of people for a given period of time (tending to infinite) and you'll see this way we obtain an always richer and more accurate perception of reality.

Moreover, we reach a greater happiness degree, which comes from giving.

About Communication pt.I

"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture" – Frank Zappa

A tiny preamble:

It is remarkable what occurred to me between yesterday and today. Yesterday I had begun drawing up this text when my pc crashed, with one of those typical and so lovable blue-screens, leaving me sitting in the semi-darkness of my couch alone with my frustration (and tiredness). But straight to the point. I was writing about how language is… how can be said… now the most summarying word is "plural" or non univocal. Computer crashes, now I have to rewrite the same things, but obviously those naughty notions come up with another shape, that is different words, different sentences, other mental structures.

I should be pleased with that, on the other hand is one more evidence about my point. Now free meditations follow.

Once i wrote an essay about Writing. Quite strange that one can write about Writing, or can talk about Language, while it's not possible to play about Music or desing about Architecture. Every tongue has its words, but this is another matter.

Words, yes, writings… It's really the only magic allowed to men. That of producing a discourse, it is an art indeed; while everybody can pile up words together, relatively few are those who know how to create something with even slightly noticeable features.

The arcane of clothing a concept, an idea, with something undescribable… with something aspiring to carry its meaning; a symbol, a synthesis of what it is. Words as bricks, as atoms, as cells… They can be grouped to form living, real, functional structures.

Language exists under the fact that exists someone who can communicate. This is not just banality. It may take uncountable shapes, colors, tongues and expressions, but it always refers to the same underlying truths. And misunderstandings are just consequences of our own imperfection. Comprehension isn't something that language carries along with itself; it's something it encounters, finds, even better retrieve, in the individual receiving the message.

This is obvious examining the languages of nature; the perfect harmony of phyisical laws, how their mutual interaction produces in the end not only an intellective enjoyment in us, but also a deep emotive envolvment, like the one we experience admiring the drapery of the petals of a flower, or an impressionistic sunset or a misterious and boundless starry sky.

Men would arrogate the right to define what art is – the language – distancing from concrete rules, searching for the abstract, the pure, the mathematic, even chaos. But they do not realize that what they perceive as "sublime" responds to the same rules that allowed their tecnological progress, the very same rules allowing our perception of harmony in music. But this again is another matter.

More: words, speeches, are like snowflakes… They can fall with indifference, loveliness, silently too, and they could even seem redundant, obvious. On the contrary every flake is dramatically unique, even if it belongs to the same family, the same species! Every man has the right to feel pride about his uniqueness, but what modesty induces in us the thought that every year, every day, there's a greater number of unique identities falling from the sky than the ones that are born by men! Thus isn't just a right anymore, but a duty to express oneself, and before (and meanwhile) expression, research, meditation, reflection, to gain insight, first of all about ourselves, then about others.

Utopia! Obviously this is an ideal. How can we ever think about being able to know everything? But this is our nature, searching for indefinite time, human conscience stretches towards eternity just because of this. Or thanks to this. (Never confuse cause and motive).

Back to mutableness, to the plurality shown by speeches (and then by languages containing them): they are like the light, you're lying under a tree and you're watching the sky through the branches and leaves… In every instant the light filtering through them is different from the light in the previous instant, maybe because the position of the parts of the tree moved by the wind has changed, maybe because the clouds moved, or maybe because of the variation in the humidity ratio, or temperature, or the height of the sun, or the chaotic movings of the molecules of oxygen and steam exaling from the leaves, each of them with its own refraction index… Not to mention the physical state of the eye, the electrical one of the nervous system, and the mental state, of the observer.

Anyway, we keep on seeing the same landscape, the same tree, the same picture What a paradox! The very same thing is never the same thing, strictly. And here now that just pronouncing a word alters it: because if the word it's just a series of pressure waves in the air, perceived as sound, what it contains, the meaning of which it become ensign, that vibrates inside of us (and, pay attention, in a different way for each of us). So, what I am saying will never be understood the very same way as I am thinking it (did I discover the obvious?) but anyway it accomplishes its task. It's a matter of "resolution", to use an optical term. The smaller the element the reticule is made of, greater is the detail depicted and perceived. Then comes back the importance of relfecting, of the communicator's "artistic" ability: his tongue is the instrument to be sharpened, sped, empowered, to differentiate the smallest parts and to secure that the message will reach its destination satisfactorily. Also because those who really want to communicate consider everybody (or at least a major part of them) as their public, and it's clear, it's just natural and correct to care about the comprehension of the audience. Otherwise the speech becomes just an exercise in front of the mirror, for which we could even be almost unlimitedly satisfied, but that will remain an infertile exercise if it does not stick to the real nature of language: the exchange.

Now I stop here  because if you want me to talk about the exchange then I will have to stay up all night…!
